What do you do?

Crap!  I forgot to do a post for the day!  I got painting the Jersey Devil and lost track of time.  So… um… lets do a question period!  What job field are you working in?  Did you enter the field that you went to school for?  If you’re still in school, what are you training for?

I went to college for Classical (film) Animation.  I don’t work in that field specifically, but I do animation for video games.  So my answer is… sorta. ^_^

What would I have brought home from Disney if I could have traveled with it safely?

    Ooo these are always fun!

Let’s see, I went to college for Hospitality Management. More specifically Hotel Management.

I currently work at a Holiday Inn Express, I got the job through an internship from the college.

And finally I plan on going back to college to get a Bachelor’s in Business. One day I hope to own my own hotel or resort! 🙂

Wow, that’s pretty cool. I love hearing about others places of work. Any stories to share or tips we could use when visiting or looking for a resort to stay at?

Hmm. Well I work the night shift, so the most exciting things that happen are drunk people coming in after the bars close or are attending a wedding party. Though there is one instance that stands out…

A guy walks in after midnight and rents a room. He then goes to his room and about 20 mins later he leaves. At about 3am he saunters in with two…scantily clad women. I over hear one of the women tell the guy about “rates”. I had to muster all of my willpower not to bust up laughing!

After having spent almost ten years at universities in my country and in Japan I now work as a part-time Japanese translator.

I hope to be able to work full-time as a translator in the future, but because of my interest in illustration, design and architecture I’d love to get a chance to do a bit of that too.

P.S. I’d love to work as a professional smut artist too of course, but I don’t seem to have the self discipline to get good enough at it, so, ah well. ^^

Japan? You live in Japan? That’s totally awesome! I would love to visit Japan one day. Any cool stories to share?

Oh sorry, I should have put in a comma after “Japan”. I don’t currently live in Japan, but I’d love to go back there. ^^’

The only cartoon related things I can recall right now, apart from having visited countless Japanese comics shops, is that I’ve been to several Comiket conventions, and have met and talked to one of the original Sailor Moon voice actors (Sailor Venus I think).

Oh yes, and one funny story I like to bring up is that I was once approached by some Japanese Christians who criticized me for drawing cartoon smut. When I asked them what they based that view on they got a bit puzzled, and after thinking a while the only thing they could find in the bible was that “a man shouldn’t lust for another man’s wife” or something like that. Being an Atheist, I wasn’t very impressed. ^o^
