Happy Valentines Day

So I hope that everyone had a good Valentines Day.  Mine was quite nice.  I draw a homemade card for my wife and I also made some for the kids too.  After work we all went out and had dinner out.  Yup, very nice indeed. ^_^

I also thought it would be a good time for some art history.  The painting above is called Cupid and Psyche in the Nuptial Bower, (1792-1793) and was painted by Hugh Douglas Hamilton, and Irish painter in the late 1700’s.  It’s based on the story of Cupid and a beautiful woman named Psyche.  Many sculptures and paintings are based on this story but I picked this one as I thought it has certain appeal to it. I like how Cupid seems to be trying to convince Psyche of something, but she’s hesitant.  But in that hesitation there is a small bit of her that wants to be with him.  She knows that if she looks into his eyes she will fall for him.

That or she’s looking at his wang.

While I did have a good V-day, it wasn’t for the normal reasons. I had a meeting last night that kept me from my wife until very late. So, we postponed the traditional events until tomorrow (she’s busy tonight). Adding to the unfortunateness, the flower shop around my office recently closed, unbeknownst to me until yesterday. So, she got a dozen roses worth of assorted handmade chocolates, with flowers forthcoming. Wish that I was more apt in the creativity dept. I really think that self-made gifts are much more impressive than just buying something from the store. My figurative hat off to you.

Hope that your V-day turned out well,

    -JJ

I’ve spent my Valentines Day in and out of consciousness. I’m trying to give up soda for the lenten season and the caffiene crash I’m going through is wearing me out. I’m always tired and my limbs feel like lead. I hope this ends soon and I start feeling some benefits. I need another nap.

I like erotic art history. I made a handmade card too. Then I watched the Twighlight Zone episode 1 season 3 Two. Too bad it was just T.V.
