Brawl? – post 30

Got Brawl?

I don’t.

Gots no money right now so I’m out in the cold so to speak.

Actually, I’m on the fence about buying it. See, when Melee came out I really wanted it but never had the money to buy (plus I was waiting for it to go cheap but it never did). It fell down the hot list of games for me to buy but I still really wanted it. So I finally got it a few years ago and I did like it but I realized some thing. I don’t have my buddies over to play games and I don’t go to their house any more (I actually don’t have buddies I can go over and visit not that I would have the time) so I played a lot by myself… and I got board with it. I want to play this new one but I’m afraid it’ll end up being the same way. Me being board of it because I really don’t have anyone to play with. Heck, I still don’t have any secret characters unlocked yet!

I know I can play on line, but will that really solve it? I’ll never do any trash talk with the guy next to me because they’ll be across the globe. Plus I usually hate online game play because of the people that have the time play these game like it was their job and then just totally stomp over everyone else. But I do love playing games against others. I’m pretty competitive, but not in a bad way. More in a “aw man! You kicked my ass!… Let’s go again!” I love learning how my opponent beat me so I become a better player. But if I have no one to play against then is it worth it.

Well I have no money right now so it doesn’t really matter (maybe I should start taking commissions again once I get my current list of stuff done). Maybe I should pick up Melee again and get my kicks out of it. It is a fun game and in the end isn’t that what matters?

Sky Girls – post 29

I can now add another anime series to the list of two that I’ve watched.

Sky Girls

(actually I’m only half way though as of this writing)

It’s an anime by Konami about a team of teen girls that have been brought together to fly these mech suits and battle large creatures called WORMSs from destroying the world. Sounds pretty typical eh. ^_^

I’ve seen reviews about it and they seemed favorable plus the animation looked nice and I love chicks in mech suits. ^_^ These chicks are a little on the young side though (15 – 17) but that hasn’t stopped the show from having several shower and bath scenes (no nudity). The animation is nice and it blends well the 3D stuff with the 2D. Story wise, it takes about 1/3 of the series before the real battles start up so it’s feels a bit dragged out but they fill the gap with the girls learning to fly the mechs, discovering the truth about the program they’re in and some fan service (lots of bum shots and more bath scenes). It’s okay but not the best thing I’ve seen and the battles aren’t as pulse pounding as one would hope. The show has been fan subbed and that’s okay but I’ll have to watch it several times to follow it properly since I’m watching it at work.

Over all I’d say this one is banking on the cute girl designs of the show rather then the story and flow of the show. And to be honest… I’m cool with that.

The girls are cute ^_^

Maybe, I’ll post my thoughts about it when after I’ve watched the whole series. I gotta fill space here some how ^_^

On a finishing note, the character designs where done by Humikane Shimada. I’ve seen his art before and I’ve liked his designs so it no wonder that I was drawn to the show. ^_^ He uses the name Mecha Musume, which means mecha daughter, for his mech girl designs.

Shhh – post 28

Do you draw smut?

I do.

Who knows that you draw it?

Well, everyone reading this knows.  But that’s it.  Oh, my wife knows, but other then her I’ve told no one.  It’s not like I need to go around bragging about it or anything.

Joe’s friend -  “Hey Joe, what about last nights Survivor eh… crazy or what.”
Joe – “I like to draw Chipettes covered in spooge”
Joe’s ex-friend – “… o_O”

Yeah, I’m sure it wouldn’t go over too well.  I mostly just wish that I could not be scared of anyone finding out.  I’m constantly afraid that someone I know will discover what I draw in my spare time and call me out on it and then spread it around.  What if my employer found out.  Could I lose me job?  Is it worse that I’ve sort of made a name for myself in the naughty toon picture circles?  Would I be outcast from everyone that I know?  Would I constantly be labeled as pervert (although I guess that part is true).  All these things worry me.

Am I crazy?

Yes… I draw toon smut.

But, should I worry about others finding out?

That’s my problem.

indie games: Waring Forever – post 27

If you’ve been following along you’ll know that I love video games.  They’re my passion, my career and I’ve build my whole life around, not just playing them, but studying games and the industry from just about ever angle I can.  But for a long time there was a section of games that I missed, totally over looked it.  Indie games.  Games made by people, not for money, but because they love games.  These people are the true gamers out there.  So it’s here that I’ll do posts covering indie games that I love to play.  Most (if not all cuze I’m cheap) are totally free and will give you more of a true game experience then a lot of the big studio games out there.

So let’s begin.

-Warning Forever-

Warning Forever is a fixed shooter (there is no scrolling) by the good people (person?) at Hikware, where you do nothing but boss fights.  That’s it.  Are ya hooked yet?  No?  Then lets continue.

You start with the base boss.  A center piece with four other attachments on it.  Oh it shoots at you too.  But there is a twist.  You destroy that first boss and, depending how you did it, the next one will grow to defend it’s self better.  Example…  You blow up the front part first.  Then next time it’ll have a larger, better defended front section.  Did you die from a laser cannon blast?  Well then the next boss will have more lasers to fight you with.  Each time you defeat the boss it’ll learn and you’ll have to change your strategy a bit.  There is also a time limit ticking down as you play.  It’s this kind of game play that really works.  You are not only just against boss ships but against the time as well so if you want to progress you’ll have to beat each boss quickly, but strategically so you’ll stand a chance against the next one.  Awesome. ^_^

There are only two weapon types.  One the just fires straight and one where you can focus your attack depending on how you angle your “attack wedge”.  The first one is good two start but you really need to learn the second to make it farther in the game.

This game is easily one of my favorites.  You can sit and play a quick game, but you’ll soon finding yourself playing a jillion quick games because you’ll want to do better and try new tactics to one up the bosses.

My highest is 12.  I think you can even swap your scores for others to see since the game will also record the last boss you fought.

Hooked now?  Good.  Go play it.

It's what I want SF4 to be… – post 26

Have you seen this? I’m sure most have by now. If not… then take a gander… it’s beautiful.

King of Fighters XII

The internet is a buzz about how King of Fighters XII is all hand drawn rather then 3D like Street Fighter 4. This is actually no surprise to me and I think you deserve a smack if you though KoF XII was cell shaded as it’s pretty damn obvious that it’s all hand drawn goodness. What I’m jazzed about it how damn good it looks. I mean… O_O it looks like SF3 is going to have to step down in terms of pure gorgeous 2D animation. This looks like it takes the cake… and shares none of it with any one.

Now I know people are going to be “what about Guilty Gear?” I never really cared for Guilty Gear, didn’t play it much and even the animation, as nice as it was, didn’t grab me. Sorry GG fans, but that’s the truth. KoFXII though give me a super woody. I wish there was more to show except from what’s at the end of this clip or at least take out the stupid text. I wanna see me some animation damn it!

The funny thing is, I’ve never been a big fan of the KoF series. I liked Samurai Showdown better. But KoF and I have crossed paths in the past… and I enjoyed what it had to offer. But this… this I like. I’m sure most know know that I’m a HUGE fan of 2D games but I’ll say it again just in case.

I’m a HUGE fan of 2D games.

Sorry Capcom. I think I’m going to go hang out at SNK’s house for a bit. No, no… We’re just friends. Honest. Umm… You have nothing to worry about.
