painting – post 109

We’re repainting our bedroom. It was an awful robin egg blue thanks to the previous owners. It’s now a lovely creamy sand colour. It was supposed to be more of an cantelupe but we don’t get much light in that room of the house so the colour is different then what the paint chip shows. And actually… this is the second colour we put on it since our first choice looked like crap in the room. Oh well, it still looks nice. We still have the door , baseboards, window trim and closet doors to do though. Suck…

I hate room painting, but it will look much better then the other colours and the final result will look great with all the proper stuff in the room.

On a side note, you know that witch touching game I’m always going on about for the DS called Doki Doki Majo Shinpan? Well, it’s inspired an actual naughty witch touching game for PC called Majo Michi. I guess it’s pretty much the same kind of game only you can touch much more ^_^

Now if you’ll excuse me… I must find a torrent for this game ^_^

freak accident – post 108

The grandfather of one of my daughters friends had a freak accident this weekend. He was walking home and tripped and fell which jarred a bone growth on his neck. It has done some damage to his spinal column and now he’s paralyzed. Just like that. He didn’t even know he had this bone growth. It’s all kinda scary that something so simple like a fall can turn out to be something so much worse. Now I don’t know if he’s paralyzed from the neck down or just the waist, but still…

It got me thinking that if such a thing happen me what would I do. How would I handle it? I’m sure, like any one I’d be really depressed for a long while. If it was just from the waist down I’d still be able to do my job, draw, play games, hug my kids so it wouldn’t be so bad. Lots of people with leg paralysis live very active lives, if not more active then mine currently. But if I was just a talking head with no way to move my arms or anything… I would want to travel. If I had to bound to my chair I would at least like to see the world that I live in. See all the places I’ve ever wanted to go and see all the sights I could.

I wish the best for the family. It’ll be hard going I’m sure but family and I live close buy and are willing to help out how we can.

I love Japan – post 107

I’m sure that most have realized that by now though. But my love of Japan and China stems back for as long as I can remember. I can’t really explain it other then it being a huge draw for me. I remember looking at books of classic Asian arts that my Mom had when I was in public school. It was a series of books actually, one other one was a art book of Egypt, which was awesome too. I don’t remember the third book. But I do remember looking through that Asia art book though so many times in awe of the pictures.

Now in my older years I surf around Japanese sites and gawk at photos of Japan. I love looking at the everyday pictures of the cities, the towns, the side streets, the temples… everything. SushiCam is a favorite of mine, so is Danny Choo. He has great pictures of his trips in to Tokyo.

I so wish that one day I can travel to Japan. If I had to choose one place to go to it would be there. I would have to take at least a week long trip there for me to see everything… and that probably still wouldn’t be long enough.

sigh…

Maybe one day I’ll go there. I hope…

Is there any place you long to travel and see before you leave this blue marble?

Kumatanchi – post 107

Okay… how adorable does this game look?

too damn cute

It’s for the DS and what it’s about is your a zoo keeper and you have to raise a bear girl for two weeks in real time.  Things actually still happen in the game world while it’s turned off.  I don’t know much about the game other then what you can see in the pictures.  Looks like you can exercise your bear girl, listen to music, get her some book learnen… take a bath with a bunny girl… hang out with a cheetah girl.  Oh man does this game look super cute ^_^

I doubt it’ll come over here, but then Cooking Mama did so you never know.  It’s being developed by Vanillaware of Odis Sphere so you know it’ll have to 2D goodness that Joe loves.

Here’s the game’s site although there isn’t much there right now.

strange but true – post 106

Want to know the thing I get the most compliments on in regards to my drawing?  The feet.  It’s true.  Out of all the years I’ve been doing this I think that, past the over all quality of my art, the feet have been getting the most attention.

I remember way back when I first got a compliment on some feet in a pic, I thought… “really… the feet?”  I know some out there are all about the feet, I’m not one of those people which why I’m a bit shocked.  I never try and put extra work in to the feet, if anything I worry that they look funny and strange.  Feet are hard things to draw some time.  That and hands, hands are hard to do too… but I don’t get the focus on them as much ^_^

So yeah, just a quick post on the feet I draw.  Apparently I draw them well. ^_^  Thanks to everyone who thinks so.  I’ll continue to draw cute toes in future drawings.

sketches question – post 105

Okay, so I came across a CD of art from the last AC I was at which was… oh… 2004 I think. On it are scans of the drawings I did in peoples sketch books. Some of them I really like and I would love to maybe turn some of them in to finished pieces. Is that an okay thing to do? Is that an insult to the owner of that sketch? I mean, now instead of having an original doodle from my hand in their very own book, they have the first draft of a finished piece that the world shares with them.

I don’t know the owners of these drawing so I can’t contact them to see if they’re cool with it or not.

What should I do? Should I finish some of these doodles regardless of if I can’t contact these people?
