Every have fortune smile down on you with some free stuff? I’ve had it happne once or twice.
I remember when I was younger and living at home, my Mom and I moved to a new apt and discovered we had free cable ^_^ we had it for several years before they found out and cut it off. But what’s crazy is that it happened a second time when my wife (girlfriend at the time) moved to Ottawa to attend school. Score! The cable company would even call us asking if we wanted to sing up for cable, at which point you would have to run out of the room when if the tv was on ^_^
Wal-Mart forgot to charge me for my Metal Gear Solid on GameCube. My wife and I had bought a number of things and asked if we could pay for everything at the electronics cash. The lady said sure and rang us though, but what she did was pass the game over the security scanner but forgot to ring it up. Oops. This happened a second time when I bought Harvest Moon for Game Cube as well.
How about you? What are your free stories?
So last night I let my Beagle Bernard out for pee around 11:00 or so. He comes back to the door is seconds wanting to be let in. I open the door and as he walks in noticed the smell of skunk out side. No big deal really, it’s not an uncommon thing to sell at times where we are. Only once I closed the door I noticed that the smell didn’t go away and only now it smells… more pungent. I look at my dog who is now sitting on living room floor with one eye shut, the other red and puffy. Yup, you guessed it. My dog had been skunked.
I had never smelled skunk stink from ground zero before. I’ve driven along the hwy and smelled it and I’ll tell you this… it’s almost a different smell with it’s super concentrated. Far more pungent and the smell gets in your mouth and you can actually taste it. Unreal… I never would have imagined it.
Anyway, I called the after hours vet clinic as to what I should and what I should worry about. They said the spray won’t hurt him and to make sure he wasn’t attacked. He hadn’t been thank goodness. They gave me a recipe for some skunk remover (dishsoap, baking soda and some hydrogen peroxide) or I could drive down and get some skunk-off shampoo for $10. I decided to get the shampoo but my wife made me take stinky with me. Holy crap… I drove the whole way with every window down and my head hanging out the window. I must have been quite the sight.
So I get the shampoo and drive back. At home my wife tells me that the house stinks of skunk. I help her get fans going and open all the windows before going to wash Bernard who, by the way, hates baths. The shampoo makes him smell like an old lady’s perfume but at least it’s not skunky.
The morning comes and, of course, the house still stinks. So begins the long process to clean the house and everything we could to get rid of the smell. Then what did we realize… the van stinks now too. So we get busy cleaning that too. At the end of the day, we cleaned everything we could, lit every candle we had and baked all we could bake to help get rid of the smell and it still lingers a bit in the air. We’ll just have to wait for it go away at this point as their isn’t much more we can do.
What an adventure… at Bernard’s health isn’t in question.
I do wish my house would stop stinking though.
Yay! So this is the project I mentioned a few posts back for those that remember and read what I ramble on about. We over at The Jab Archives have to pay the bills from time to time and in an attempt to do so we’re working on a collection of comics featuring TJA’s mascot Jo. No, she’s not named after me, but I did have a good hand in her design. Anyhoo… this is the first page for my entry in it and my first real time doing a full on comic. I’ve only the first page painted (8 pages in all) but it’s shaping up tp be pretty good I think… I’m happy with it.
As I mentioned I’ve never done anything like this before other then my test page (which I still want to finish) so I’m a total newb here. Writing has never been a strong point for me but I have had this idea for about 8 years now. Hopfully in that time I’ve been able to perfect the story. It’s actually like doing story boards for animation which I really liked doing. I love setting up camera shots and playing director. I actually helped out with a few storyboards for a show called Mega Babies… oh god was that an awful cartoon.
So yeah… first page of Joe’s Jo comic. Not sure when it’ll go on sale. When it’s all done I suppose. Oh… and yes… it’s a naughty comic ^_^
The steps are pretty much the same. I put down flat colours first. Shadows next and then highlights. But now I do all my work digitally. I rarely draw on paper anymore. Well, I usually do my doodles on paper and then scan them and clean it up in Photoshop. I also don’t use the airbrush any more and I use a lot of different shaped brushes. I also chose my colours better with shadows and highlights rather then just adding white or black to the base colour.
It feels good to see where I am compared to where I am now. I feel that over these past few years I’ve come leaps and bounds with my art and I’m really happy with it. I think that’s what I like about drawing, I’m constantly learning and absorbing more techniques. I’m getting better everyday and it’s a wonderful feeling.
I remember someone asked me what I would do it I wasn’t drawing. I said, I can’t answer that because I can’t picture myself doing anything but art. It’s who I am and I wouldn’t change that for anything. ^_^
