Sex Houses
So the other day I was watching a documentary on tv with the wife. We don’t watch many of them but we do enjoy ones that fall under our umbrella of interest. What was this one about you ask? Sex. Specifically, the sex trade in Canada (mostly). It was during this show that I learned something I didn’t know. Prostitution is legal in Canada… ish. I say “ish” because there are rules you need to follow. You can’t solicit sex on the street and you can’t meet you clients in one common location, but if you’re a call girl you can make appointments and meet people in their homes for sex in exchange for money.
Interesting.
It’s set up this way to keep brothels and from setting up (which are illegal) but there are call girls in Vancouver that are challenging these laws. These call girls where interviewed and such and they’re very nice people, they love what they do and they’re not crack heads or anything (oh and they make about $200 an hour!). They’re reason for challenging the laws is that currently the girls that are in the trade are going to peoples houses which does put them in an element of danger. If they (the girls) could set up proper sex houses they could provide security and health benefits for the girls, which would create jobs.
I’m all in favor of it in all honesty. I’ve never had a call girl but I think that the ones that pick the trade willingly and enjoy it totally own their profession. I know there are sex houses in Europe (Germany and such) and from what I hear they do very well. I would help get girls off the street and get them, what qualifies, as a job in the eyes of the government.
What’s your take on it? Are you for or against legalizing sex houses?

First off, I want to say that I wish I lived in Canada, and we’ll leave it at that.
Now on to the issue at hand. Yes, I think that legalizing sex houses would be a great idea. Like you say, it would give the girls security and insurance in addition to creating jobs, which is the very thing today’s economy needs. Prostitution should be a legal practice everywhere. With today’s tech. people can avoid STDs a lot easier than before. Besides, it’s a helluva job, and could potentially make the government some tax money too. In the end a win/win.

Oh? Where do you live? You’ll have to make a trip here one day and sample our goods ^_^

Lolz! I live just a bit south of Canada, in Kansas actually. A land-locked state where the weather is always PMS-ing. For example, it could be 65 degrees and sunny one day, then fwoom! Next day we have 2 inches of snow. Unfortunately, I’ve only been out of state a handful of times, and only out of country once, its just so hard to find the time and money to go on a trip nowadays. 🙁

Legalized prostitution sounds good, and its been practised in many civilizations for thousands of years. However, I’m thinking that there would be problems instituting it in many areas. Simply said, not many neighborhoods or cities would be happy having brothels near their schools, homes or churches. There are a couple of shops near where I live that exclusively sell x-rated movies and sex toys. Having a fully operational sex house in town might be where the line gets drawn.
Mind you, I’m far from a prude (would I be on this site if I was?) but legalized prostitution may cause problems. Would your wife or family be okay with you going to a whorehouse? You might have people blowing their entire life savings on prostitutes just like they do at casinos playing games of chance. Plus, the sex you get from the women may be routine and passionless. It’ll just be another day at the office for the girls
On the other hand, there are some guys out there who the only way they’ll ever get laid is to pay for it. So, as a public service to keep the single male population happy and productive, prostitues might be a boon. Personnaly, I’d rather have a wife or girlfriend. As Paul Newman once said “Why go out for hamburger when you got steak at home?”
Jeez! I talked a while didn’t I? Well, I hope to hear more interesting topics in the future Joe. Bye.

No problem. ^_^ I’m glad to have topics that people can talk about. Sex and sexuality is a topic that I love to bring up. Not every one wants to talk about it though, so I’m glad to have an outlet for it here ^_^

In Nevada prostitution is legal only in brothels. I think it is the way to go, its much safer for all participants as the trade is very heavily regulated.

I had no idea that it was legal there. Cool ^_^

Honestly I think it falls into the category of something that should be regulated on a state/county basis. If those in a state think it’s something that should/shouldn’t be allowed, then that’s as it should be overall.
I will say that for safety sake it has to be regulated as hell, the case of the craigslist killer up in the Massachusetts/Rode Island area is a testament to that.
I never could understand how it’s right to buy a girl drinks or more and maybe get layed, but it’s not alright to just give the money out right and be sure of what your getting… well it is what it comes down to.
