I hope I don’t get sea sick – post 85

Woo!!!  Joe’s going on a cruise!

It would seem that my studio is sending the whole staff to on a cruise to the Caribbean in June.  How much does that rock?  Oh… I think it rocks  a whole lot.  But see, I’ve never gone on a trip like this… ever.  I’ve pretty much never been anywhere.  So traveling is kind of scary.  Oh sure, I’ll be taking a vacation in a few weeks where me and the family will be taking a flight to Nova Scotia… our first flight… which is a bit scary.  I’ve never been quite so far away from home as I will be on this trip.  I’ve never been on a boat… well, I’ve gone fishing but that’s pretty much it.  So this is new thing for me.  I know I’ll have fun but I can’t help be a bit nervous.

I’m thinking I’ll take my laptop so I can message my family when I’m on the trip… but then I thought I’ll have to chain it to my wrist when ever I leave my cabin.  Same with a DS.  So maybe I won’t take anything but the essentials.  Man, this thing is hard to plan for, but I don’t want to stress myself out.  I just want to have fun.  It’s all paid for.  Flight, food, cruise… everything!  Except for things on the islands we’ll be visiting.  That I have to pay for myself, which is expected.

So I don’t know… should I just leave my fancy electronic stuffs at home or should I not worry and bring them.

Joe Favorites: Canada's Worst Handyman 3 – post 84

Yay!  One of my favorite shows is on again.

Canada’s Worst Handyman 3

I seriously love this show.  These people are nominated to go on the show because they’re very, very, very bad handypeople.  So during the show the not so handypeople and the people that nominated them go on the show and have to take part in construction type tasks where they’ll learn how to be better at swinging a hammer.  It really good because they learn confidence in what they do and learn how to support each other too.  Plus it’s fun to see how bad these people really are.

I highly recommend people go and watch the clips from the show at the link provided.  Great stuff and very entertaining.

dreams – post 83

So I had a dream last night that wasn’t really odd but neat none the less.

My dream was in black in white with a slight sepia tone to it.  I was in a rock quarry, close to new mine shaft that had just opened up.  In front of me was a long line of men in roughly their 40’s but some older and a few younger looking like they came out of the dust bowl era.  All dusty, dirty and raggedy looking talking about working in the mine.  I followed the line to the mine entrance where there was this old shack/booth where the line ended.  I went past the line and in to the mine and took a long, rickety elevator ride to the bottom.  There at the bottom there where old oil lamps on stakes in the ground to light the area for the workers.  The workers used pick axes to chip away at the walls and bucket to fill with what ever they where mining.

I went back to the top and saw a filthy little boy, about 8 – 10 ish, handing in his bucket to a man at a different shack and getting some coins back.  I asked how long he stood in line and he said he was there for a day and a half with no sleep because if you sleep in line then you loose your place.  Then he went back to stand in line.

It was kind of disturbing to see all of this because I gathered that the men would stand in line for a spot to work for as long as they could before exhaustion set in.  Then they turned in what they got for a few coins and then go stand in line again.

Strange…

My dreams are quite cinematic.  I don’t have dreams like… ” I was driving a bus and then He-Man showed up and we had a party because it was his birthday and then I flew home.”  I rarely have dreams like that.

What about you?

get a job – post 82

So most people who read these things know what I do for a living.  Then I got thinking… what do you do?  Or if you’re going to school, what are you going to school for?

news – post 81

I don’t watch the news, or read the news paper.  I get all my news from the Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

I know it seems silly and sort of sad because by doing this I’m learning more about the US and what happening there then I am about my own country.  Well, I would watch The Rick Mercer Report more, but it doesn’t go all year like Stewart or Colbert.  It really should.  I’m sure it could pick up an audience.

Anyway,  I’ve said before that I don’t watch too much TV anymore, but I love my Daily Show.  I record it during the week and watch it usually on the weekend.  Heck, I even watch it during work on the Comedy Network’s web site.  So awesome!  I can watch whole episodes whilst I animate ^_^

I’ve heard that Colbert can’t measure up to Stewart, and vise versa but I like both shows equally.  They both have writers and set up as far as I’m concerned.

I even went and bought a book after watching the Daily Show one day.  I’ve never done anything like that before.  I must say that the book was great as well.

What was the book? A Long Way Gone: memoirs of a boy soldier by Ishmael Beah.

I highly recommend it.
