Big Cats? Do you mean just Jim and Sari or are there other Characters from Jim`s past we`re going to meet? (I didn`t mention Jo cause her character is a feline and a feline is no big cat, if i remember correctly)

Ahh no it is just referring to Jim as "The Big Cat" sorta just saying he's a big guy.. Like the big cat has seen and done a lot in his life. Sorry about the mix up.

Jim doesn't seem to have control of his staff at this time in the story (16 May 09). He seems more of a "big brother" than a boss. Has he ever been in charge of people or a business in the past?

          Okay... questions...

How'd Jim go from camera shop to porn studio in the basement? How legal is this set up? Public porn studios (where everyone knows what's going on there) have to face all kinds of official scrutiny... including healthcare checks and tax revenue. Jim's operation seems to be a lot more informal... which can also be a lot more illegal.

Sorry. Curiousity springing from my own experiance in the field.

I don´t think that the porn studio is so public... I think it´s more a hobby of Jim, Jo and Sari...

Well the question is "is he making money off it?" If he is, and if the amount is substantial, then people in positions of authority will want him to pay his obligatory dues... which can some times be HUGE. If the studio thing is more an 'erotic art' studio then he can get away with a lot more. If he's making money without the licenses and inspections... well... people go to jail for that. Still... it would kinda bogart the comic if that popped up so early in the story.

Nah, I really don´t think that Jim sales vids. If he would, Jo and Sari would be big porn stars the way they´re looking! xD Nah, seriously, I´m shure that it would have already beed told us in the comic if that would be the case. But the comic is very young, sooooo... we dunno what will happen in the future.

Heh they don't have to sell vids anyway - they probably do just fine about the shop.

I'm sure amateur stuff like that if not for sale that it can be a hobby not subject to a lot of regulation and stuff. Any of that I suppose is beyond the scope of a (weekly) comic of this format though.

To put it simply; the porn studio is more a subsidiary company to the main camera shop which spawned first from glamour-shots to erotic shots to a curious couple who wondered that since the studio did such a great job on their wedding videos/photos that perhaps the studio might be able to do some stuff for their honeymoon....? And it snowballed from there. It is definitely not illegal (all the correct paperwork is filed), it is just a place where couples (or whomever) can go to have amateur 'home movies' created in a studio setting and good camera angles/music/etc...

Most of their DVD sales are handled online via a website, or sent out to local porn stores, etc. They're a very small porn company but they have a following - amateur stuff sells surprisingly well (this is based on sales facts at a store i worked at).

Most of the movies are private and are never released but some clients get an extra thrill out of the idea of being exposed to the world and once the appropriate paperwork has been signed, onto a DVD their session goes (depending on time it could either be a full DVD of their own or part of a compilation). Movies involving Jim and Sari make up a very small portion of their lineup.

Alexia has even used this service from time to time. ; )

I wonder if anyone's tried to use the studio to claim the "film and publish" loophole in all US prostitution laws, and what the reaction might be. Somehow I see a worse reaction from finding out after the fact than beforehand.

Very unlikely as the studio is really not an impromptu place, it requires appointments and such, and it's just not the type of area it's in either.

Except when "spontaneous groinings" happen in the store, but those are mostly private and not filmed anyway.
