Not to sound that jerkish, but is there really a point to making a comic in a language that I doubt anyone on the forum reads other than to make yourself look cool and more Japanese-ish?

I mean...I even had a friend who spent a bit of time in Japan try to read through that and it wasn't making much sense.

The problem with using a babelfish or translator is that in trying to convert something from English to Japanese, there is a whole grammatical system that doesn't really get equated and anyone who actually can read Japanese will probably be more confused trying to decipher what you're saying than just trying to peck out the English. (speaking of which, in the third paragraph in your Japanese translation on the updated page of otherside anarchy, where you tried to say changing _AT_...the AT part was scrambled and it apparently offers nothing to the instructions.)

It's not a bad picture, but really...trying to bedazzle with the Japanese is kinda old hat and is going to end up looking silly to anyone who actually is fluent in it. If you really want it to be natural, I'd suggest learning the languages rather than relying on a translator. Until then I'd recommend sticking to a language you are fluent in and that your prime audience is fluent in rather than fauxing foreign languages.

Other than that The artwork is very cute. The Kikkoman face mushroom is adorable and the shading is nicely done. As I said though, it'd probably be more enjoyable if it wasnt trying to emulate the Japanese so much.

Nice work though, and best of lucks.

It looks cool but it may as well be in English. It... aggrivates me so bad when ppl TRY SO HARD to be Japanese when they're not. I mean, there's nothing wrong with adopting some odds and ends from Japanese artistic styles or even throwing in the odd kanji for fun (assuming you know what it means.. I've thrown in some Chinese words in my latest pic which should go up in the next 2 weeks).... but I swear every time I see a "Manga/Anime" Calender or how to draw book that's done by Non-Japanese artists and publishers jsut trying to cash in on the 'genre' I want to burn things.... small things.. that scream... and gain me XP...

So wjhy not give us a translation? It'll probably be funnier.: )

        nevermind, it will be fixed.

this petty and jerkish attempt was tried to make it better comprehensible for japanese audience, which is the most wide in my site. since 99% of japanese people who wrote me e-mail did that in automatically translated english, and chatting with them I saw that they don't effectively know english.

I guessed that it was better a parodized version of japanese than english that in 99% cases wouldn't have been understood. and I perfectly know as you that babelfish or wordlingo suck as hell.

about an english translation: I guess it might not sound funny, so I spare you from getting a bad joke, since I'm not the best when it comes to the jokes, as you might have seen somewhere else on this BBS. whatever.

about me, I can build some easy sentence in japanese, but I can't write with kana, therefore what's the point in writing incomprehensible romaji? and lo, since I'm Italian I should better give up taking Anime-style? it's the only way I learned to draw, and I guess it has become "mine", though I can give up easily anyway.

as I said before, duh, nevermind. I'll prevent myself from taking such arrogant initiatives again. sorry for disturbing you - and thanks for the compliments.

_I_ certainly never said to give up drawing in that style, you do it very well, the Japanese words were just a little OTT.

one of the coolest things i have seen is someone writing in a kanji style but using english letters, the best example being in the pc game Hitman, they have the word "Bar" written with kanji but it still says bar, and its really awesome. hmm, i should try to take a screenshot and stop failing at explaining :P that is, if its ok with you JP

Teen Titans pops to mind with me. That poorly timed over-kill of anime expressions and humor (boy, I'm risking my neck, 'cause I think there's some fans here). And I know what you mean about "how to draw"-books. Though, these people might think they're actually doing a good job (thus not just cashing in on a trend).
I hope you don't consider me as one of the misguided ones, Kyrie. ... Not that I would quit drawing manga if you did. I adore the style and want to become so good as that people won't see it's from a Westerner. Or at least not get a link to a TUTORIAL ON MY THREAD! >_<**

In any case... I think your comic strip is very funny, Jack. Those spaced out expressions on inanimate objects always cracks me up. And that puzzles look on her face at first and than the sudden realization... funny stuff. Great job.

effectively I had no intent of simply imitating or what the heck else. i just have been a long-time reader of manga, since 10 years (yep, this year it's going to be the tenth anniversary of my first issue of ranma!) and i tried to learn the style, long before it had become a trend, here in italy.

i'm just a lover of that style, no way i can try to take some money from what i do; in first instance because i'm not able to draw that damn good, in second instance because my passion for erotic japanese art has trascended someway the simply trend and i never wanted to cash on it...

unlike many other i know that had deliberately used doujinshis to make a bunch - and when i say a bunch, it's a big bunch - o' bucks, with works that seemed deliberately parodic even in the intentions, wherenot the attempts themselves.

and that style has become someway mine, hence i can't draw anything that don't resemble manga. i effectively don't care if i seem the bad japanese rip-off of an artist or what, i just state to all the japanese guys and artists who seem surprised to know there's someone here in italy who makes manga... that doesn't mean but i would sell my personal touch to any price.

thanks for the comments, it's been an hard time posting here - but someway I'm bringing out the best of current me.

ages since i don't post something new, so here it is some new wave stuff...

sorry for not keeping in topic with the TJA politics (as i effectively don't draw furries), but my work has always been hentai-oriented, this is a special preview for JA since I didn't post it on my site.

oh, i added censorships because I'm a lazy guy, and because i don't wanna make my Japanese audience risk anything in their country, rest assured that an image hosted on international websites shouldn't interfere with local laws - better safe than sorry, if you know what i mean.

even though the majority is furry the name of the site is the jab archives because the premise is taking jabs at parody artwork, so you are not going against any site politics

yeah what DeD said, it says on main page (i beleive) that the site isnt really furry, its just that the majority of it is furry. so dont worry about it.
