  • Proof that I do draw...

Not that anyone doubted it (I do have those links in my sig), but more of a 'putting one's money where one's mouth is' kind of thing.

Here I offer some examples of my work, some of it viewable elsewhere, some unreleased. Starting with a couple of penciled examples, I'll add some more developed pieces if the TJA audience indicates they so desire.

All of these are my own characters. While I've done art trades in the past and are still open to them for the most part, I do not draw other artists' characters (not even as fanart) unless I've been extended an invitation to do so by the characters' owners, or granted permission in some other fashion.

In consideration of the community atmosphere that induced me to join the BBS in the first place, I'm leaving the door open to scribbling up some additional stuff if the interest is there.

Edit 09/08/06: restored images lost (presumably in the server follies)
Edit 02/20/16: Changed thread title from "Proof that I do draw"...since I've long proven that I do indeed draw stuff.

Oops...I see there's a limit to the length of the descriptions...

      <fires up the chainsaw>

      Un-truncated versions below:
Hiked Highest: While one of the reasons some schools enacted uniform codes is to curb fashion competitions among students, I have it on good authority that girls would still compete to see who could shorten their skirts the most. Here, Tina (left) and Tanya (right), my oldest characters (from 1984-85) engage in the practice, with Tina declaring victory in the comic (she was always an exhibitionist), first posted about 1999 or so.

Swiftwater Crossing: One hot summer day, I observed a string of pedestrians attempting to cross (without success) the runoff from a wide-open hydrant up the street. The flow was several feet across and moving fast. It wasn't deep, but you couldn't step into the current without it sloshing up, over and thoroughly drenching your feet. It occurred to me if one were to tiptoe across with their toes pointed downstream, the water would hit the bottom of your shoe and be deflected to either side, leaving your feet in a dry pocket so long as your heels stayed above the current. After proving myself correct, I did a few pics of Tatiana, from various angles, demonstrating the technique in a pair of platform sandals. This unreleased view was chosen for its inclusion of a reasonably complete urban backdrop, and is destined for eventual inking and color once I figure out the water effects. Vintage: 2004 or so.

Canuck Trucks: On my first trip to Canada, via Greyhound (I was attending the C-ACE con in Ottawa) I immediatley noticed, upon leaving the Customs plaza, the seemingly bizarre array of wheel arrangements posessed by trucks and semis "north of the border". Without any official word, I chalked this up to lower axle-load limits in Canada, but still, I found it amusing to the point that 22 and 26-wheeled semis became a photo subject for me as I rode first to Montreal, then Ottawa. Here, I put Tina and Todd in my place with a three page comic that I was able to take to the last panel before needing any dialogue for the punchline. Presented here is the second page.

            Boner time already? Hmm...

Anyway, as promised, here is the ink and color stuff. First up is another excerpt from an unreleased 'one shot' comic, one that made it to ink and is waiting for an opening in my main comic's story before I scan, color, and letter it. This particular piece was inked with a #2 round-bristle brush, but you'd have to look hard at it to discern any variation in line weight (usually it's easier to see in my pieces):

EDIT (once again, the description was truncated. Here's the complete one
Sherryl was raving about her new Nike Presto shoes, and remarking how fortunate she was to have an artist who could draw them--except that fashions now dictate that pants be worn so low that you can't see them anyway. Tatiana happened to be in the room, and suggested "a$s-high shorts" as a solution.

A seperate post follows for the color pieces...

This post contains two examples of digital color I've done, the first from just before I joined VCL, and another done within the last two years. Both were done using something called Micrografx Picture Publisher, an application that's been around since Win 3.1 days, but now since absorbed into Corel after Version 10, with no further development. I just have this aversion to using pirated copies of Photoshop, and besides, I got the hang of this one faster.

(Descriptions below, as the description field won't accomodate them when actually posted)

Tatiana-wmf2-jbbs-ed.jpg: An "intro pic" of Tatiana, created about 1988 or so, and shown as she appeared when I joined VCL in 2003. At this point I had just learned how to draw and color the folds and highlights in her leather jacket, and included it whenever I could for the practice. The sneakers are Air Jordan Retro 11s, although as previously mentioned, it's not easy to see under the pants.

Tina-mw1-jbbs-ed.jpg: Tina, as shown in 2004 at the start of a series of pics on VCL where she uses those massive platform shoes to cross a gooey mud bog. She gets a special thrill out of completing these "adventures" without getting her feet wet or mud in her shoes, which in this case are modeled after an real variant on the maryjane style, ironically named "Sin". You can Google "demonia sin" to see the real ones

Edit 09/08/06: restored lost images, edited second desc so that the shoe reference doesn't mention any particular site. Also figured out how to upload updated versions without deleting the original attatchments first (which resets the hit counter, duh )

Those (comparitively) few who have glanced through this thread may have asked themselves by now "So where's the porn?"

The answer is "I haven't gotten there yet", in a figurative sense. The characters I invented aren't throwaways--instead they're very long-term ones, some going back 20 years or more (oddly enough that means some of them are actually "legal" in more ways than one ). Add to that the more-or-less completely developed personalities surrounding each one, and well, just as most RL folks who regularly do the nasty with their S.O. wouldn't be caught showing off for a fap mag, so it is with my characters, except for a few who actually developed exhibitionistic tendencies.

When I decided that I didn't really have any objections to drawing the stuff, I created a new character who would serve to introduce my group to the fandom (as it pertains to online artwork), and "life" in an online gallery where one's sole purpose is to gain viewers by appearing in various artworks. This character was to be tailor-made to make erotica "all right" for the others to engage in by following her lead. She's a skunkette, one of the more oversexed species in fandom (after foxes). She doesn't believe in wearing clothes, feeling that her fur is sufficient, so she parades around in the nude all the time. And finally, it doesn't take much to get her turned on, by having a hedonistic attitude toward sex, she welcomes any oppurtunity to get horizontal, whether anyone is watching or not.

                  Meet Nei'chelle...

Well, I guess the post count on this thread is about to go up a little more...once the word about this one gets out.

Art trade with Eric 'Dustbunny' Huelin, basically this is the "let's see if you can do it" pic, and as you can see, I "did it". The desire to draw stuff like this was always there, just the expression was waiting for an excuse. As such, I plan to make use of those "fluid effects" in the future.

One could say this also 'proves' I can draw other folks' stuff too...but I suspect that's not why you're looking now

Further art posts are being redirected to my FurAffinity or VCL accounts. I intended to quietly make this thread vanish today, but I found out that thread starters don't get to arbitrarily deep-six what they've started. Poke around in my FA journal "I Hate Rock Roll" if you're curious as to why.

Wow.. After reading that journal entry it reminded me of somthing that happend just like that not to long ago on another forum i visit O.o and i must admit some people are quite pathetic for acting that way. But even though i wish you the best in your journy of art Even the softcore side to furry art has its uniqe style to it that draws attention in the imagination.
