I agonized quite a bit on whether or not I should put this here or in the misc/general discussions thread, and if the mods feel this is the wrong place then by all means feel free to move it there. In any case, here's the skinny. Despite my best efforts to focus on my writing, lately my life has been one chaotic roller-coaster of ups, downs, dips, and dunks and I've barely found the time, and when the time did come to write I was usually too loopy on painkillers to focus. Suffice to say, I haven't gotten anything done when it comes to writing, which just rubs me all the wrong ways. I won't go into details about what's been happening as this is neither the time nor place, but long story short my father isn't long for this world, I had a brush in with the Grim Reaper one date night, my son was being picked on and he didn't tell me, I suffered a stress-induced-panic attack at work, my husband got a DWB, and now my leg is broken. Fun times indeed!

Needless to say I haven't exactly had the time or the motivation to write, and WWOEC going belly-up certainly hasn't helped things. Nevertheless I'm going to keep moving forward, so for the time between now and when I upload something here's what you have to look forward to (or hate me for, depending.)

    The Bad

Let's get the bad news out of the way first. Before WWOEC went down for good I was having hard-drive problems and lost a good portion of my works. I thought nothing of it at the time but, you know, hindsight is 20/20. Regardless I'm sad to say that Ed Rising, Batman: the March of Penance, Star Wars: Nothing Left to Teach, and High School of the Dead: Japan/US Relations are officially cancelled as I was not able to recover what I had written of them. Which was considerable, sadly. (Ed Rising was nine chapters in; 14 if you included the spin-offs.)

Dan vs the Contradictory Paradox (aka Dan vs Pinkie Pie) is also cancelled. Though I still have the files for it, between Dan vs being canned (is it even still on air?) and having stopped keeping up with FiM (was never really that into it in the first place, honestly,) I just don't have it in me anymore. Maybe I'll pick it up again, but I'm not planning on it. Unless my muse comes back or popular demand sways me otherwise, consider this one benched.

I'm undecided on The Roast of Duke Nukem and the Shota Games, as both stories heavily involved WWOEC (based on in-jokes of the forum and various members) so it seems inappropriate to go forward with them now. Until I do make up my mind, consider them both on hiatus.

The Legend of Sulis and Irene will continue, but only after I get hold of my collaborator and co-author, Evil Fairy, who seems to have been abducted by aliens or something. Until then, the story is on indefinite hiatus.

Anyway, that's enough of the bad news. Now for some good news!

    The Good

My Gravity Falls story 'Jurassic Snark' will go ahead as planned. Part one is already up and I'm about half-way through part two of this three, maybe four part story. Keep your eyes peeled!

I have plans for a series of one-shots involving Teen Titans, Danny Phantom, TMNT, and various other shows. These will all be condensed to one thread rather than each having their own, as each story will be one part and will pretty much be pure smut with little if any story.

I have an idea for a Star vs The Forces of Evil story, but I want to wait and see how season two plays out before I jump on it and end up contradicting something. I do my best to keep things as in line with the show's canon as possible.

So, we've covered the good, we've covered the bad, so now let's cover the 'eh...'

    The Maybe

Part of me wants to write a non-smut story of Superman and One Punch Man crossing paths and showing that, sorry guys, Saitama can't beat Superman. I don't care how many popularity contests he wins, I've read Superman comics since I was 7 years old AND I'm up to date with the entirety of One Punch Man, which for the record is a ton of fun. Having said that, I speak no hyperbole when I say there's nothing Saitama has done or has had done to him where Superman can't say "Been there, done that." When you consider that Superman has held a black hole, shrugged off supernovas, cleared 25 light years of distance within a matter of minutes, was sandwiched between two planets crashing into each other, was hurled from orbit was such force that his impact pretty much doomed the planet and he bounced back from all of it, not to mention lifted both eternity and infinity, and even punched a hole in reality, I think he could easily take a Special Punch if not shrug it off entirely. That being said, despite not doing the Death Battle thing where one of them has to die and I'd have them make up in the end because Saitama is cool like that and Superman's the quintessential good guy, I'd pretty much be asking for a flame war. Though nowhere near the heat and hostility of Superman vs Goku (which is still a thing for some ungodly reason) it nonetheless can ugly fast. So of all the maybes, this one is the least likely to see the day it gets written.

I'm a big of Steven Universe and have completely fallen in love with The Loud House, but I'm extremely leery of touching either of them. Steven Universe is one those rare lightning-in-a-bottle shows that's not only really good, the characters are also so great and lovable that it just feels wrong writing them in smutty situations. As for The Loud House, it too is a ton of fun with lovable characters, but given that I'm not a fan of loli or incest and this show doesn't really provide material for much else, it seems pretty unlikely. Now to be fair I haven't caught up with all of the show yet, so maybe there's something I don't know. We'll see though.

I've wanted to write a Mario story for years now but I just can't make up my damn mind on what to do. Yeah, those of you who know me well enough know I'm indecisive as shit. I don't even want to speculate how many stories I began writing and then immediately scrapped.

So that about covers it. There is stuff coming soon, and I'm very sorry for the long delay. Regardless, stay tuned, and if you guys have any suggestions or ideas then by all means let me know and maybe I'll take a crack at it. Take care!

You KNOW your personal life comes first, NK. I'm really sorry to hear of your problems, but I have plenty of time to await anything you have time for. Go n-eiri leat ! ( Good luck ).

First off, the Writers' Lounge is the perfect place for discussions about writing too, so no worries.

(We should probably put up a post about tags and how to label actual stories versus discussions and whatnot, but we have time…)

Again, I'm sorry that things have been way rough for you and your family recently, and that penultimate one… fuck! Then a broken leg is only so much more suckage than one can take in your situation; losing your hard drive doesn't help either (unless you were about to scrap what you had and start from scratch anyway. )

On top of that, many people have been so heartbroken over WWOEC's demise that they won't even think about joining us here, and we all carry around that pain as well. So I understand why that's having an additional effect on your plans. And yes, Evil Fairy has always been a big help in terms of motivation and ideas, so I hope she's able to return soon (for more S&I, definitely).

I am delighted that you're going ahead with "Jurassic Snark." Though oddly enough, just before I saw your message last night I was thinking of proposing picking up last year's Halloween Writers' Jam and making use of what we'd all started. Again though, reassigning EF's role without asking would be what in bird culture is called a dick move. As a stand-alone though I think it'll be awesome, and I'm still up for proofreading/editing if you have the need.

Same goes for the PWP pieces, or at least for the series I'm familiar with. Good idea to wait on the new season of Star vs. since there's obviously going to be some major development. (The seeds were definitely planted even before Toffee revealed himself.)

Writing some action/humor stuff sounds great, and if anyone is qualified for that it's you by far. Though not in my range I'm still certainly happy to help with proofreading. (BTW, sending stuff to me for proofreading also ensures a backup copy. )

I know exactly what you mean about Steven Universe being such a special and dear show. However, as a wise artists once said when asked if there was a series he respected so much that he couldn't do porn of it:

But it has to be good, not some random thing. It depends on how you consider the sex . Many people treat it like a joke, mockery or just whatever. I think of it just as any other thing that is part of any world. Characters laugh or cry, characters love, characters have adventures… character have sex… I mean, they’re alive, it’s just too normal.
So if appropriate, loving ideas come to mind then you can actually compliment the show in a way. It all depends what you're in the mood for, and even if you only want a romantic piece that's still great.

Though I do feel some uneasiness about some of the implied messages, I too absolutely adore The Loud House. I have two strong ideas and was about to start the cliché-driven boinkfest story, but a wise fellow author said the right thing – you know, the thing I didn't want to hear – and I've settled on writing a slightly gRiMdark mystery story with some hard themes, but not a 'cest-fest by any stretch.

Actually, you'd be the perfect person to help me with some aspects of it, but knowing what you're dealing with these days made me hesitate to bring it up. (But hey, since you're talking about writing again… ) In the end though, of course we agree with rogermaris9 about doing what you need first; however, if dipping your toes back into the world of erotic or romantic literature is what you need, then we're here to help you in any way possible.

All right, I hope that you're having a good weekend and that you and the family are well. Contact me via PM if you want to chat and maybe we can arrange IRC, Skype, etc. sometime. My hours are pretty flexible most days. Meanwhile, take care.

Sorry to hear that things have been rough; I hope they've started to turn around (or will soon if they haven't).

Thanks for the ideas and support, guys. It really does mean the world to me. Fairy Slayer, I may just take you up on that offer. Just give me time to think it over, though from where I'm standing I certainly see no harm in it.

In other news though, it appears that I'll be writing that Loud House story after all. Earlier today, I get this little gem of a message in my blog from what I'm sure is some higher life form than human beings...

"you talk a big game about writing and characters staying in character, but i don't think you have what it takes. you know what? i DARE you to write a story about that loud house thing you won't shut up about and face a grimdark situation while they all stay in character AND i dare you to include superman in it since you think everyone is fucking him up. let's see you do better!"

Classy. But okay. I've certain written stranger things than what he's suggesting. What can I say? Sometimes spite is the best motivation. Keep your eyes peeled!

Okay, you talked me into it. Go for it. Good to hear from you again.

Oh yes! For me, spite, anger, and all sorts of negative emotions can fire up the creative juices like nothing else. That's how "My Little Pony: Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!" happened, after all.*

Best of luck with whatever you work on next. If it's The Loud House then maybe that'll help me actually sit still long enough to write some of my own. (Unless it turns out to be the exact same idea, in which case I'll be 0/2 because "Lincoln Louder" used the other, though super-obvious idea already.) Anyway, my schedule is pretty open these days.

              Take care.

              * Of course now Lauren Faust, the Clintons, and National Public Radio have all teamed up to kill me, but oh well.
