Namir Rough

The other day I started a doodle.  I wasn’t sure where it was going to go, but was as I continued to draw I started to think of an old tribal character I drew a few times named Namir.  With her in mind, I decided to rework her design to how I draw now.  This is what I got.  I usually think about doing redesigns on all my older characters but I never get around to doing it.  I am glad I did this one though.  It was fun. ^_^

Game Fan Arts

This might sound odd, but I don’t draw non-naughty game fan art.  I don’t know why… I have nothing against it.  Even though I’ve loved games for as long as I can remember, I just don’t ever try my hand at it.  I have once or twice in the past, but nothing as of recent.  So I decided to give it a go.  I’m doodling out a pic of Mai from King of Fighters.  Not sure if I’ll see it through to a finished state or if I’ll just leave it as practice.  So far it’s been pretty fun.  Who knows, maybe I’ll do more as a sort of non-naughty drawing challenge for myself. ^_^

I drew boobs

So the other night I extended the offer for others to hang out in my air conditioning and draw boobs and vadges.  No one showed up, but seeing as I had some time to kill before bed, I decided to draw some anyway.  I really should take some life drawing classes again to brush up.  Nothing too heavy, just once a month I think would be fine.  I know a buddy that goes from time to time and he said the open class he attends is pretty good.  I thin k it costs about $10 which is a fine price to pay in my opinion for a live model to draw.  I remember in life drawing class from when I had animation and the amount of life drawing we had to take was staggering.  While I don’t have time for that, I should get back in to it.  Gotta keep the skillz up!

Next time maybe I’ll draw more vadges.   Anyone want to model for that?  ^_^

Own the Craft

I draw… a lot.  It’s my favorite hobby and it’s also my career.  I can’t imagine what else I might be doing (other then playing games) with my time if I wasn’t drawing.  And yet, there are those out there that draw even more then I do!  I’m talking about the ones that are able to post new art almost everyday! It’s crazy town how much some people draw.  I guess they’re totally dedicated to the craft.  It pays off too.  When they put up progression pics of what they did 10 years ago vs. what they can do now.  It’s like… holy crap!  I’ve been trying to practice my figure drawing in the morning to warm myself up, and even that’s a struggle!

I tip my hat to those people.  They seem to bleed art.  They get it.  They understand it, and I hope that one day I’ll be able to understand it too.

Unused roughs

When I do commissions for people I usually give them a collection of rough poses to pick from.  One is the winner, the others are left behind.  Sometimes I’ll reused those poses for others commissions if I feel they can be made in to a strong image.  Those that don’t make the cut are forgotten.  Until now!  Here is a gathering of unpicked poses from commissions that I’ve done.  See any you like?  I hope those out there enjoy them as I do, because I love to see the rough works of the artists I follow.

2 4 1 commission progress – pt 2

Last time on the 2 4 1 commission progress report, I showed the selection of poses that I had for the commissioner.  They had picked the one above, which meant it was now job to do a larger rough picture of said pose.  At this point I’ll put in the specifics like face, hair accessories and such.  Anything can still change, but with these details going in, I can start to take the character in a specific direction.  And as of this morning, I got approval that my direction was fine (save a few minor details) and so I’m ready to show it to you fine people.
