Namir Rough

The other day I started a doodle.  I wasn’t sure where it was going to go, but was as I continued to draw I started to think of an old tribal character I drew a few times named Namir.  With her in mind, I decided to rework her design to how I draw now.  This is what I got.  I usually think about doing redesigns on all my older characters but I never get around to doing it.  I am glad I did this one though.  It was fun. ^_^

awesome :D. you planning on finishing it?

    • Joe Randel Says:

Not sure. I might play with the design a bit more and see what I can do with it. I have some ideas that I’d like to try.

Very nice. She is quite the jungle cat.

Speaking of characters that are eligible for re-working, Gwen sure hasn’t shown her face here for a good while now. I wonder if she likes old style chairs…

Anyhoo, Namir is cute! I hope she gets finished!

Yes, Gwen is totally on the list to get a do over. I’ve been sort of waiting for the right time/ideas to come forth to make it work though.

Not sure if it is the new style or just how you’ve posed her but she looks more mature (this is not really the description I’m looking for, but it’ll have to do) than I remember. Two questions, though: (1) what kind of animal is Namir supposed to be (I’m really bad at recognizing these things); (2) how did you come up with the name (‘cuz I really like it)?

    • Joe Randel Says:

Yeah, I guess she does look more mature. I never really thought about that as I was drawing her. I was just going with the flow and what looked proper. As for the questions…

1 – I remember wanting her to be part leopard and part zebra. This was back in the day when mixing furries was exotic as was predator vs prey themes. Not sure if I want to follow through with that… we’ll have to see.

2 – Namir is name from Israel and means “leopard”. ^_^ Although… it’s actually a boys name.
