Red Bull
I had my first Red Bull the other day. You might think “big deal”, but to me it is a big deal, because you see… I’m afraid of energy drinks.
Seriously.
I hear about how people will drink them and get HUGE boosts of energy, and they kind of scared. Some of the stories are as such… some people tell me they get jittery when they drink them and can sit still. One friend said she drank one when she was moving and “couldn’t move fast enough” as she put it. One friend told me he was doing a driving trip with a bunch of people and it was his turn at the wheel so he drink a Double Jolt and had a coffee to keep him up. His turn ended early though as he ended up shaking and crying because of all the caffeine in his system. o_O
And people drink these on purpose?
~sigh… so there I was the other day at work with about 6 Red Bull under my desk and feeling extremely tired because my kids don’t like to sleep. I got the Red Bull for free at a recent game developer conference… and I love free stuff so I filled my bag with them. So yeah… me and the Red Bull… I decided to face my fear and drink one and see if it would keep me from falling face first on to my keyboard.
I cracked it open and…Â oh god!
It tasted awful! People actually drink this stuff?! And the crazy thing is, it didn’t even give me an energy boost. Nothing. I literally felt no extra energy, in fact, I almost fell asleep on the ride home. But I shouldn’t have been surprised. I can drink a Coke or Pepsi or any other caffeine drink and go to sleep and not feel anything. My wife on the other hand would be up for hours.
So yeah… energy drinks taste awful, have no effect on me and I’ll most likly never drink one again. As for the the other 5 under my desk… I gave them all away.
Tis the season I suppose. ^_^
Do you drink energy drinks?

If you consider Dr Pepper an energy drink, then yes.

I occasionally have the urge to crack open a Red Bull. I think they are very tasty, but they really don’t give me that much energy. Now, if I were to have like 2 or 3 in a row, then the effects could be felt.

I’m like you, Red Bull doesn’t do shit for me. I prefer the Mt Dew-based energy drink Amp. That stuff tastes decent and gives me a nice energy kick to boot. The only problem now is that Pepsi has stopped making Amp in the original 8.whatever ounce cans and only make the big 16 ounce cans now. I don’t need that much and don’t feel like wasting it. Bastards.

I’m a Jolt guy myself, and I find that it varies incredibly. I find that sometimes I’m unable to sleep (not jittery mind you), and other times I’m about ready to crash just from taking a few sips. You might want to try a few other energy drinks (in moderation, of course) – if taste is an issue, see if there are other flavors. That’s how I found Orange Jolt to be great for me, because Cola Jolt and NOS both failed for me.
