Pokemon X

Okay, so I’m hooked again.  I’ve picked up Pokemon X to try and expand my Pokemon collection.  I still have Pokemon White and White 2, but I’ve yet to play the sequel.  I’ve been playing, evolving, breeding and grinding to try and collect all the Pokemon I can.  Not just all of them… but ever evolutionary form and every alternate sex version (some look different based on sex).  I know it’s a lost cause.  I’ll never complete this task, but still I march on.  I currently have over 400 Pokemon in White alone.  Once I play White 2, I’ll gather all the ones I can out of there too.  Then I’ll transfer my collection over to X and expand it again.  Sigh… It’s a sickness and I don’t think there is a cure.

Are you playing White and White 2 on the 3DS? Because if you’re playing them on the DSi, you might run into trouble since you won’t be able to link trade between the two systems.

I am play White and White 2 on my 3DS, but if I want to trade with myself I bust out my old DS. It works like a charm. ^_^

Pokemon never quite caught my attention. I played the original totally through (not catching them all) way back in the day, but haven’t touched it since. It was fun, but just didn’t push my metaphorical buttons. However, while I didn’t get the itch (so to speak), Pokemon did make me rethink the entire genre of RPGs (from a meta-game perspective).

While I may not fully grasp the ‘gotta catch ’em all’ mentality, I do understand the compulsion that a video game can have on people. Good luck catching them all (several times, it sounds like).

    Peace!

I think they change it up enough between games that I don’t mind playing them back to back (almost). Plus I play along with my kids and nephew so it’s lots of fun trading and such between us all. Actually, I use them to get the ones I don’t have and they get the extra Pokemon I catch, so everyone’s happy. ^_^

        Okay…

So, this is the compulsion that I was talking about…. I have an addiction to Dark Souls (and its associated games).

Got into the Dark Souls II CBT Network Test, tried logging in at the appointed time, many, many, times,… couldn’t get in. It was many, many, …, times.

Now, I’ve little sleep in the last couple of days… and have not any DSII gameplay to show from it….

I truly wish you the best in your Pokemon endeavor. Catch them all! And, if you can’t, catch all that you can!

        Best,

        JJ

You’ll be somewhat happy to know that everything you’re doing in White and White 2 will not go to waste in either X or Y, provided you subscribe to the Pokemon Bank. It’s more or less a storage system for every single Pokemon game starting with Black 2 and White 2 that you can move into the next. 3,000 spaces for you to move everything you’ve worked so hard to find.

Beyond that, X and Y has what’s called the Friend Safari. By collecting and verifying friend codes on the 3DS (or 2DS), you can visit a building in a town after you beat the Elite Four, use the person’s name, and consistently encounter 3 specific wild pokemon. There is almost always a pokemon in your friend’s safari that cannot be obtained in the normal course of the game.

Can we exchange X/Y friend codes?

  • ThaMan Says:

So, what kind of Safari Field do you have?
