This is kinda sorta (not really) like choseing to be a natural or a cordinator. come to think of it *gose into a loooooooooonnnnng speech*

I've already done something like that w/me (not in REALITY of course), but I have done a bit of an experiment with it on one of my site. I would like to put the link to it somewhere, if it's OK with the mod's (Just tell me where to put it, and I'll include it where you say*).

Well considering social implications and the fact people are able to discriminate based on everything from skin colour to interests in music, putting yourself into a "furry" you might as well just buy a lodge in the mountains to live alone forever. Or shoot yourself in the arm and live life as a cripple.

I'm sure in magical happy perfect-land that becoming a furry will be 100% positive with no bad implications or future impacts. Then again no one considers what happens genetically. Is one able to recieve blood donations, if their blood is no longer human of sort and they get into an accident, are they more or less screwed? Much less religious implications and moral implications. Does anyone really think the world is going to let you live a life that doesnt involve circus-freak?

This question bugs the hell out of me simply because most people don't really think of any reality in it, but rather are all "wooo! It'd be so coool man! yeah!" when any plausable chance of becomming a "furry" has both mental/social/physical ramifications.

I realize this is a little parade rainy thing, so I'll duck out now.

the military does have furries... they're called dogs
but you are right, people dont take it THAT seriuosly. i know i dont.

And to Miss Mab and her question on blood donation... the blood isnt changing at all, it can stay the same no problem, they change the DNA whithin the human's body, to give them the traits of an animal. when the sperm and the egg join they will create a single celled embryo (im sure its one celled, but not sure its an embryo) as a sinlge cell, scientists can go in no problem and screw around with the DNA... want Bat Teeth? no prob!

But there is a prob, and in a way, its the only one keeping genetical engineering from taking that step. (the step being Splicing human DNA with Animal Dna)... The proteins and body juices dont match (DUH) and so the peice of DNA is rejected, and the trait cannot be spliced.

This is also the real answer to Damaramu's question, The military has studied and thought about creating a "super human soldier" by splicing DNA with other animal Species... For example: if they wanted to give soldiers super sight, theyd splice the soldier's eyesight Gene with that of a Hawk. Or give soldiers super hearing, well then theyd splice the soldier's hearing Gene with that of lets say, a bloodhounds hearing. This stuff has been thought of, studied, and experimented, ultimatley giving the conclusion of Impossible. and Until we figure out a way for Gene's to Splice without trouble, it will stay impossible.

If anyone wants a GREAT example of Genetics, and screwing around with genes, go to your local movie store and look for a movie called "Gattaca" it has A LOT to do with Genes, splicing, and stuff etc etc... and its quite a good movie to boot! its not droll and boring. but more inspiring, funny, and entertaining.
