I Fear the Zombie Apocalypse

I’ve watched The Walking Dead show of tv now for 3 seasons and as a result, I can’t go anywhere without thinking about a zombie apocalypse.  Mostly as where would I be the safest.  I’m constantly looking at buildings, factories, rural areas and such as thought I might have to bunker down in them with my family.  My house has a fenced in back yard, but I think the area would soon be over run with the living dead so we’d have to abandon it.  Schools usually have fenced in yards and that could be a good chunk of land for gardening.  Factories usually have high security fences but they’re probably too far from any sort of food/supply source.  Usually I eyeball rural gas stations as a spot for chocolate bars, drinks, maps and such.  I would also have to think on my feet to make sure I’m able to find the proper resources, supplies and to say a head of the other survivors.  Of course I could just put a bullet in my head and avoid the whole thing, the other question would be my family though.  I don’t think I could leave them with all the zombies around.  Damn it!  I’m all paranoid now.  Thanks tv… you suck.

It’s The End of the World!

I’m sure you’re aware that the Mayan’s have predicted the end of the world.  Seriously… true story.  According to their calendar system and then merged with our calendar the date will fall on December 21, 2012.  Less than 10 days and then it’s all over people.  Sigh… the sad thing is that some people really do believe this to be true.  I won’t go in to the details of Mayan long count calendar (I’ve read up on it), but I have done a little research in to what people think will happen.  It seems to cover everything from massive solar flares, asteroids, the magnetic poles switching and a secret hidden planet that exists behinds the sun coming in to view.  I can’t say for 100% that one or any of those things will happen, but I can say that I feel pretty safe.  Plus if it really is the end of the world, no point in stocking up on canned goods or bottled water right?

But let’s say that the world was going to end.  What would you do?  What would do with the time you had left?  Would it be the same as usual for you or would you run off and try to do all the things you’ve always wanted to do?  Loot some stores?  Tell your boss to suck your dick?  Take part in a few end of the world orgies?  I think I would quit my job after my last pay check and spend the rest of my time with my family.  They’re the only ones I’d want to be with when it all goes down.

Free Gift

I got a package in the mail today.  It was my free gift for being a platinum member at Club Nintendo’s reward program.  It works like this, every time you buy a Nintendo developed/produced/endorsed product you get a code.  You sign in at the site and enter your code to get points.  Those points tally up and once you get over certain amounts, you get a rank.  Over 300 gets you gold status and over 600 gets you platinum status.  You can also use those points to get free Nintendo things. All Art Has Stopped

I’ve taken on an art job recently to help with paying for a family trip.  It’s a side job from what I do at work and in no way is competition to my career, but because I of this all my fun extra art has come to a halt.  Tinkerbell folio has come full stop and my Christmas pic has slowed as well.  This job is quick money that will come in very handy, but it sucks that it takes away from the art I’d rather be doing.  Ah, well.  In life we always have to do things we’d rather not be from time to time.  It’s not that the job sucks.  It’s just not the fun art I prefer to do.

The good news is, is that this job is almost done.  I should have it done in the next few days actually.  Then I can get back to drawing Tink and my Christmas pic.  Yay!  But chances are there will be only one instead of two.

What jobs have you had to do that sort of suck, but not quite?  Just enough to make you want to get back to doing what you love.

Artist Showcase: Kotobuki Shirou

Today I discovered a truly amazing artist.  His name is Kotobuki Shirou and the story of how he got to be an artist is truly inspiring.  Over 15 years ago he was in an accident that left him a quadriplegic which only allows him movement from the neck up.  As part of his rehabilitation, the doctors insisted that he take up drawing.  From the stories I’ve gathered, this is common and the doctors won’t take “no” for an answer.  Continue reading

It’s Quiet in Here

Not being alone very often, let alone for a few days I noticed something.  It’s very quiet in my house.  Wife even took the dog with her, so it’s really, really quiet.  I found that I’ve had the TV on all evening just so I can have some noise and break up the silence.  Not only that, but I found that I even talked back to the TV in response to what I was watching.  I sure as heck never do that… ever.  I remember a friend of mine commenting on his house being super quiet after he moved in to his own place.  I’m sure that I would get used to it if I didn’t live with anyone, but for the moment… I find it unsettling.  My family returns tomorrow and the crazy thing is… I’m sure I’ll be wishing for the quiet then. ^_^
