Have you ever bought an item on auction thinking you where getting the genuine item only to find out that it was counterfeit? I have. I remember looking for Mega Man Zero 1, 2 and 3 for GameBoy Advance back in the early 2000’s. I found an auction for the games on Ebay and so I bid… and won. I was so happy to finally get them, but I did find them to be a bit strange. The colour of the cartridges to be a darker grey and they fit slightly more snug then a normal cart. A few weeks later I was mentioning this to my wife and she noticed the it said “Nintondo” on the back of it. I was floored. I couldn’t believe I had been taken so easily. Mind you the games worked fine… mostly. Years later I discovered I couldn’t save a game past the second slot. I learned my lesson on buying games of Ebay with that purchase. Although I do wonder why they didn’t just put Nintendo on the back of the game. They where all ready ripping them off so they might as well go the extra distance to make it a “perfect” fake.
We’ve discovered other fake things off Ebay in the past few years. We’ve recently bought bootleg Disney pins and movies too without realizing it until it’s too late. Although now we notify Ebay and get our money back when we can. Although now we buy artisan crafts and things you can’t really counterfeit. That or we just stay away from on-line auctions in general.
Does it bother you to have a fake version of something or are you just as happy with it as long as it works properly?
Do you swear? Do you swear a lot? I don’t swear. I don’t know why really. It’s just something I don’t care to do. Well, the odd word might come out if I’m super pissed off or something. But it’s such a rare instance that people usually stare at me with mouths open, totally shocked by my cursing. What I find amusing are the people who can’t go two words without dropping an f-bomb. Do you know anyone like that? Are you someone who can’t help but swear every other word?
If you are some one that swears a lot, have you ever tried to stop swearing? What is it that prompts you to swear so much? I find that if I do curse, it sounds strange and goofy. Like I probably could have made the same point or gotten that laugh with out sounding like a sailor. I don’t know about you, but it’s just something I’m not comfortable with doing. I don’t care if you swear while we’re talking. I’m totally fine with that. Just don’t swear around my family please.
Here’s an interesting fact about me. I hate talking geek outside my house and work. It’s always been something that I’m just not comfortable with. I mean, I realize that I’ve always been a geek. I draw cartoon porn. I play and make video games. I’m not athletic in any way, shape or form. I fit the role quite nicely. But I feel that it’s a side of me (a rather large side) that I don’t need to showcase to everyone. I know some people are just fine with talking geek out in public (Dr. Who, Xbox, Comics) and that’s great. It’s just not for me. Maybe deep down I’m not comfortable with who I am and so I’m trying to hide it from the world. Maybe I’m afraid I’m going to get teased and laughed at. What ever the reason, I always keep my geek in check when I’m out. Mostly… sometimes it slips out.
The fair has come through my town this week and like always, my family and I trek out to take it all in before it goes away until next year. Going to the midway always reminds me of high school. Back then, my friends and I would seek our way in to the fair and use what money we had on rides and food. I wasn’t much of a ride person to be honest, but there was one or two that I would usually go on. They where more of the tame rides though. I couldn’t, and still can’t, handle the crazy spinning rides. I do enjoy some greasy fair food though. There is no hiding the fact there is nothing of any nutritional value there. You’re just fooling yourself if you think other wise. I never played the games though… I’m no fool.
Of course picking up chicks was always a challenge to be taken up under the lights of the midway. My friends always managed to do well… I did not. The lights, the sounds and the smells of the fair bring that all back. I was young and felt so free to take on the challenge of meeting a girl or going on the Tilt-a-Whirl.
Now I find the fair far more expensive than it should be and my legs get tired after walking around for about an hour. But regardless, I’m still taken back to my teen years every time I go back. It’s still fun… just a different kind.
Are you a fair person? Any neat stories about your town fair?
Word on the street is that Iron Chef will be returning to the air waves in Japan this October. This is totally fantastic news! I am a HUGE Iron Chef fan. It’s so much fun to watch. Although I’m sure our campy English dub helps to make it as entertaining as it is. The American series of Iron Chef I can do with out. It just doesn’t do it for me. I guess it’s not as over the top enough. Anyway, I did some searching and haven’t found any early trailers or commercials for it yet so I’ll just put up the original opening. I wonder if they’ll bring back any of the original chefs or have all news ones. I hope Chairman Kaga hosts it. It wouldn’t be the same with out him.
Man, if there are new Iron Chefs next month and a new Sailor Moon next spring/summer…Â I’m going to be all kinds of happy for the next year. ^_^
I wasn’t feeling well this weekend (What the hell?! How many more times am I going to get sick this year? o_O), so when I wasn’t sweating my ass off or getting the chills from just sitting there, I decided to play some games. Now to those new to the site, I don’t get much time to play console games. Play lots of portable games on my 3DS, but sadly I lack the time to sit and play a larger game. Not this weekend. I finally set myself a goal and finished Super Paper Mario for the Wii. The game only came out in 2007 and has sat in my collection ever since. But now I can cross it off! WOooooo! Now I only have to play… a crap ton more. I’ve got more games in my collection that I’ve yet to play, I wonder if I’ll ever get through them all.
So, what did I think of Super Paper Mario. I liked it a lot. I loved the platform adventure with a dash of 3d mixed in. I felt there was lots for me to do and never thought that things where getting dull. The story was pretty good and even had things that I wouldn’t have expected to happen. Over all it was a great title and I’m glad I have it in my collection. Now on to the next one. I think I’ll put in Metriod: Corruption or Sin and Punishment: Star Successor. Although I have wanted to play my copy of Ico for some time now…
What’s the last game you finished? Did you like it?
