they where gone for about a year , now they're substantially more refined, at least we maintained all the previous reg/comments.

Nah. Timmantha and Trixie have both shown growth through the comic. I'll bet Helga and Arnold have a brief period of "omg he/she couldn't possibly have enjoyed that," before they both hook up for real (not under the influence).

I'd personally rather see sustained personal growth that takes things in different directions from the original series. Timmy will have to decide if he wants to be Timmantha permanently or not now that he knows that Trixie isn't into boys, but is into him as a girl. Changing his changer just to be with a girl would be immature (even if his parents wanted a girl) so he'll likely have to let go.

Speaking of "not under the influence", one reason why I especially liked the Trixie and Lor pairing is the way they shook off the influence to be open with one another. Those two have real chemistry and I want to see them go on dates after. Timmy has also shown personal growth in not taking advantage of his situation to be intimate with Trixie or Tootie, both of whom would consent even without influence. Though that could also be trauma which he is working through.
